ALTAR AND RITUAL OFFERINGS

The spirits have traits, which is a better word I find than personalities as I don’t think it is that appropriate to place a spiritual deity within our human definitions - if we can avoid it.

In forming a relationship, a bond, a connection it helps to have a “brief” on what a particular deity has alliances to. The following suggestions are just that “suggestions”. If you are drawn to work with a magickal stream explore the very nature of that stream and experiment. In my own practice I advocate doing your homework so you can be prepared and choose your ritual offerings with at least the confidence that ultimately you will have circumvented causing any offence, and at best celebrate, honour and align to the chosen stream and/or deity. This can assist you to have a meaningful exchange, a meaningful meeting.

Gods, Goddesses, Deities like communion!

Long ago in our history humanity, in an egoic drive to banish the Gods (as if that’s possible) to the heavens and underworld, lost the way; growing totally in its separateness. Communing was thus left to the church, clairvoyants, shamans, priests/priestesses, cult leaders. Leaving the masses shunned for ever believing they were worthy enough to have any sacred relationship within the spiritual realms of ones own life; be they king or peasant thus causing a tidal wave of illusion that has swamped the western culture to the depths of disempowerment and despair. The Goddess, Deities, Spirits await you! You may have to work for it however and this will require a willingness to invite the chosen to dinner (figuratively) and have a discussion on a regular basis. Set up a sacred altar space, clean and tend to it regularly, lovingly place on it ritual offerings to your chosen Goddess/Deity.

Light a candle, have meaningful dialogue, offer foods. It’s really not about how “other people commune”, it’s about how you do! If you offer foods, light a tea light candle and when it has burnt down, and you have finished your communion, offer the foods back to the Earth in a sacred manner. It really is not appropriate to have a snack from the plate you offered Spirit.

No matter how good that chilli chocolate looks!

Mako Woman altar/ritual offerings

 • Mako Woman’s tremendous knowledge can be tapped very deep within ones psyche, sometimes this is not always appropriate; or even an enticing place to visit. What can be highly effective is preparing oneself by building a relationship with the deeper powers that you shall seek to aid you. To build a relationship with an ancient power that we are geared in this age to subconsciously fear sounds more complicated than it is. In reality you are preparing yourself to meet with yourself - that in truth is what Mako Woman gifts you with; the meeting pre-empting and then allowing “self integration”.
 • Mako Woman offerings are a symbolic representation of you beginning the process of reclaiming self integration to move forward on your path of power. Appropriate offerings are fossilized shark teeth (worn or placed on your altar space), pictures of sharks, shark figurines or sharp marine objects such as fish bones, shells, crustaceans or sea salt - remember that these are not to connect you to the element of the ocean but are for the specific purpose of aligning you to Mako Woman’s primal energy. Although the ocean is her environment, the ocean holds not just one magical force. In forming relationships with ancient powers, that humanity fears or has shunned for a long time, it is best having a gentle approach in which they must whisper their secrets and healing powers to us. This in no way lessens ones capacity to form a relationship with Mako Woman; it acts like a sunscreen to filter the force that we may be unaccustomed to.
 • Mako Woman and shark energy has a very protective power and contrary to popular belief and written knowledge on allies and power animals Shark can offer an ancient repertoire of power and empowerment.
 • The taste is salty and viscous.
 • The odour is akin to sea spray.
